What is the CPO Certification Program?

The Pool & Hut Tub Alliance’s CPO certification training program provides training for efficient, effective, and economical operation of swimming pools and spas. It is ideal for operators, owners, managers, service companies, public health officers, or anyone who has interaction with recreational water.

To attain the Certified Pool/Spa Operator® certification, a person must:

✓ Successfully complete 14-16 hours of classroom instruction

✓ Successfully complete the Pool Operator Primer™ on-line training and participate in a one-day Pool Operator Fusion™ classroom course. The Pool Operator Fusion™ course can be the second day of a traditional 2-day classroom course.

● Proven educational tool

● Widely accepted by local and state authorities

● Available as a 14- to 16-hour classroom course or as a blended on-line and one-day classroom course

● Covers all topics necessary for pool operators, including a section on local and state codes

Who is progressive

Laying the foundation

Trey grew up in the pool industry. His father, Don Plummer Jr was the leading "Pool Guy" in the West Texas and New Mexico area. Don was responsible for establishing his market for such brands has Accu-Tab, Oreq, Americhlor, Hayward, Acid-Rite, Waterco, and more. Don established multiple branches in El Paso, Tucson, and Midland. Before his passing in 2018, Don cemented himself as the premier go to for the City of El Paso, UTEP, UNM, Ft. Bliss, City of Farmington, WSMR, and over 100 Apartments / Hotels in the area.

Third Generation

Trey entered the pool industry full time in 2010. Fast forward to 2020, Trey is the only recognized specialist for Hayward Commercial, CAT Controllers, Pentair Commercial, Accu-Tab, and Acid Rite. He continues to grow and manage what was established by Don. The photo to the right shows Trey and Amy holding the Thorne Cup Championship trophey. Amy is Don's daughter who handles all admin duties for Progressive. Progressive is a locally owned family small business. Amy and Trey believe in giving back and supporting the community whenever possible. They actively support the Chihuahuas, Rhinos, and multiple High School and youth sports teams.

PHTA & Progressive

Don believed in doing what was right, not the cheapest. Trey continues that by continuing his education through the PHTA. By doing so, this ensures any pool or pool guy he helps is given the latest laws, codes, and techniques. As of this writing, Trey is the only "Pool Man" in El Paso having completed PHTA Courses and registrations for Certified Pool Operator Instructor, Certified Pool Inspector, Water Borne illness course, Aquatic Play Structures Course, and more. Trey will be the first to bring CPO Courses to El Paso via zoom due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
